California Department of Labor

What Does the California Department of Labor Do?

The California Department of Labor is comprised of several different departments including the Labor Commissioner, Cal/OSHA Division of Workers Compensation, Division of Labor Statistics and Research, State Mediation and Conciliation Services and Boards, Commissions and Programs. Each of these divisions is charged with protecting the rights of employees and making sure that they have a safe work environment as well as ensuring that they are being paid properly for the job they are doing.

In essence one arm or another of the California Department of Labor is supposed to be there for you, when you are having trouble with your employer. These services are free and may or may not help you with your problem. In most cases you will find that if you are having a problem with your paycheck, you will be better off to have legal representation such as that provided by the California Wage Law Attorney if you want your case resolved in a reasonable amount of time and decided in your favor.
